The Relationship Choreos allow you to access information on the real-world relationships between Entities (people and organizations) available through LittleSis.
To use the Choreos in this bundle, you'll need to sign up with LittleSis.org and obtain an API Key. More information on obtaining an API Key can be found here. Detailed information about the Relationship methods available through LittleSis can be found here.
It may be useful to familiarize yourself with the data structure of the LittleSis API, which is described here. The main types of records are Entities, and Relationships, which track a known connection between two Entities. Other types of records are Lists (such as "Forbes 400" or "Federal Bailout Recipients") that are stored separately from Relationships.
A Relationship is a record that stores the essential fields about a real-world connection between two Entities in LittleSis. Relationships are each assigned an ID. There are several Categories of Relationships, which can be looked up with the Categories Choreo. A Relationship can only have a single category, and for each Category the Relationship record may contain additional fields, e.g. the "Position" Category contains "is_executive" and "is_board" fields.
When using Relationship Choreos, specifying the order of Entities can be helpful in narrowing the resulting data. The order of Entities in a Relationship record only matters for the Position, Education, Membership, Donation, Lobbying, and Ownership categories. For those Relationships, the following conventions apply:
Entity1 has a position within Entity2
Entity1 attended school at Entity2
Entity1 is a member of Entity2
Entity1 made a donation to Entity2
Entity1 lobbied Entity2
Entity1 is an owner of Entity2
